K Chandrasekhar Rao sworn in as the first CM of Telangana
At midnight India got its 29th state in the form of Telangana. Rao was sworn in along with other minsiters in his cabinet. Some of the ministers who took the oath as the Cabinet Ministers were Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Rao's nephew T Harish Rao and T Padma Rao.
Meanwhile President's Rule has been revoked in the Telangana region.
Celebrations erupted in the otherwise tense Telangana region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated K Chandrasekhar Rao and said: "Centre assures complete support to the people and Government of Telangana in taking state to newer heights of progress."
