Justice Saran to take oath as new Odisha CJ
Cuttack, Feb 21: Justice Vineet Saran will be the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.
A Presidential warrant of appointment of Justice Saran has reached here, a source in the High Court registry office said. The new CJ will take oath on February 26.

Prior to his present appointment, Justice Saran was officiating as a senior judge of Karnataka High Court. The post of Orissa Chief Justice was lying vacant ever since Justice D H Waghela took oath as the CJ of Bombay High Court on February 15. Justice Pradeep K.
Mohanty is currently officiating as Acting CJ here since then. Born on May 11, 1957, Justice Saran graduated from Allahabad University in 1976 and obtained LL.B in 1979.
He was enrolled as an advocate with the UP Bar Council in July 1980 and practiced in Allahabad High Court till he was elevated as a permanent judge of the same High Court on February 14, 2002.
He was transferred to Karnataka in the same capacity on February 16 last year.
