Justice Joseph should be elevated, Supreme Court Collegium reiterates
New Delhi, July 20: The Supreme Court's Collegium has reiterated its recommendation of elevating Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice, K M Joseph. It may be recalled that his elevation was rejected by the Government in April.

The Collegium which comprises the five senior most judges of the Supreme Court had agreed in principle to reiterate Justice Joseph's name to the Centre on May 11. In the next meeting on May 16, the Collegium however deferred its decision.
The centre had returned Joseph's file back to the Collegium for it to re-consider the recommendation on grounds including that the proposal was not in accordance with the top court's parameters and there was adequate representation of his native state Kerala in the top court.
