Nadda will be taking a break from poll campaigning in Karnataka to watch the movie at 8.45 pm in the Garuda Mall in Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya has invited the young girls from Karnataka to watch the movie. "'The Kerala Story' is an important movie documenting & reflecting social issues of our times, in Kerala & other parts of the country. It has a salient message for our young women. We are inviting young girl students of Bengaluru to join National President of BJP Sri @JPNadda Ji for a special screening of the movie, today evening at 8:45 PM, Inox, Garuda Mall, MG Road," he tweeted.

The movie has been severely criticised by politicians in Kerala accusing the flick of projecting Kerala and Muslims in a bad light. Also, the leaders including Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that the movie could create communal tension in the state.

The story revolves around 3 women who are converted and then sold off as sex slaves to the Islamic State.

However, the courts including the Supreme Court have refused to ban or stay the release of the flick, which hit the screens on May 5.

Meanwhile, the Hindi movie has set the box office on fire. On the first day, 'The Kerala Story' came out with flying colors by raking in Rs 8.03 crore at the India box office. The collection witnessed a good jump on the second day by raking in Rs 11.22 crore.

The two-day collection of the movie stands at Rs 19.25 crore.

On the other hand, the Madhya Pradesh government has given a tax exemption for the flick.

"'The Kerala Story' exposes the plot of Love Jihad, religious conversion and terrorism. It brings to the fore, the disgusting face of these menaces. This film also reveals how the lives of those daughters are destroyed, who in momentary emotions get trapped in Love Jihad. It also tells us about the designs of terrorism," MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
