Investigation Underway Following Murder of Journalist Mukesh Chandrakar in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh
A 33-year-old journalist, missing for two days, was discovered murdered in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, on Friday. Police reported that Mukesh Chandrakar's body was found in a septic tank at contractor Suresh Chandrakar's property in Chattanpara Basti, Bijapur town. Mukesh, who worked as a TV journalist and contributed to the 'Bastar Junction' YouTube channel, disappeared on January 1st evening. His brother, Yukesh Chandrakar, filed a missing person report the following day.

Investigation and Suspects
Police traced Mukesh's last known location to the contractor's premises through his mobile number. This led to a search that uncovered his body. Authorities have registered a murder case and detained several suspects for questioning. Local journalists mentioned that Mukesh had reported on irregularities in road construction contracts in the area, which might be linked to his murder.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed deep sorrow over Mukesh's death, describing it as a significant loss for journalism and society. "The news of the murder of Bijapur's young and dedicated journalist Mukesh Chandrakar ji is very sad and heartbreaking," Sai wrote on X. He assured that those responsible would be apprehended swiftly and face severe punishment. "The culprit will not be spared under any circumstances. I have given instructions to arrest the criminals as soon as possible and ensure the harshest punishment for them," the CM added.
The investigation continues as police work to gather more evidence and bring justice for Mukesh Chandrakar. The journalism community mourns his loss while hoping for swift action against those involved in this tragic incident.
