The incident happened at around 9 pm when the students were on their way back from the Bhardwaj Lake, Asola Wildlife Sanctuary.

According to the students, when the victims approached Surajkund police station, cops misbehaved with them and refused to register an FIR. The cops allegedly even forced them to tender a written apology.

The victims eventually went to Vasant Kunj north police station on August 15 where policemen registered a zero FIR under IPC section of 323, 341, 506, 354, 365, 511, 506 and 34 and transferred the case to Surajkund police station.

According to the complaint, the girl said instead of lodging an FIR, the officials forced them to write an apology letter. The cops also questioned about her torn dress and said "this is not a free-sex country".

Deputy Commissioner of Police Faridabad Astha Modi said,"We are investigating and will call them to record their statements at the Surajkund police station. We are in the process of recreating the sequence of crime to identify the accused."
