JNU PhD Admissions 2025: Important Dates, Eligibility, Application Process, Fees, And More
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has opened applications for its PhD programmes for the academic year 2024-25. Admission will be based on NET (UGC-CSIR), JRF, or GATE scores. Interested candidates must apply online at jnu.ac.in by December 2.
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

Applicants need a master's degree and relevant NET/JRF/GATE scores. Those with only educational qualifications or only test scores are ineligible. Applications must be submitted online using UGC/CSIR NET percentiles or GATE scores. JRF-qualified candidates should apply separately under the JRF category but can also apply under the NET category.

Documents Required for Viva-Voce
Candidates must present testimonials from two individuals, including a former teacher. They should also provide a list of subjects taken, a representative published paper, and a brief note outlining research interests and professional goals. A research proposal is needed during viva voce.
Additional Requirements for Foreign Nationals
Foreign applicants must submit a statement of purpose (SoP) for the PhD programme. This document should outline their research interests and objectives within the programme.
Fee Structure
The application fee for PhD programmes is Rs. 325, while it is Rs. 20,545 for those applying to the School of Engineering. Candidates should regularly check JNU's website for updates and notifications regarding admissions.
Candidates with GATE scores can only apply to PhD programmes in the School of Engineering. All applicants are encouraged to stay informed by visiting jnu.ac.in frequently for any new announcements or changes related to the admission process.
