In the previous election cycle, JMM contested 43 seats and secured victory in 30. They were runners-up in five constituencies. This time, JMM has announced candidates for 41 out of the 81 seats. The INDIA bloc partners will jointly contest the elections, with Congress and JMM vying for 70 seats. The remaining 11 seats are allocated to RJD and Left parties.

The opposition BJP plans to contest 68 seats in the upcoming polls. The AJSU Party will field candidates in 10 segments, while JDU will contest two seats and LJP Ram Vilas one seat. In the last election, the JMM-led alliance won 47 seats, taking power from BJP, which had secured 25 seats.

Nomination Process and Voter Details

Filing of nomination papers for the first phase of elections began on Friday and will continue until October 25. This phase covers 43 assembly constituencies set to vote on November 13. A total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to participate in these elections, including over 11 lakh first-time voters.

Among the eligible voters are also 1.13 lakh individuals with disabilities, third-gender persons, and senior citizens over the age of 85. These groups represent a significant portion of the electorate in Jharkhand's upcoming assembly polls.

The RJD has already announced candidates for six seats as part of their electoral strategy. Meanwhile, in the previous election cycle, JVM-P won three seats, AJSU Party two, CPI ML and NCP one each, along with two Independent winners.

The JMM's strategic candidate announcements reflect their intent to maintain influence in Jharkhand politics. By fielding experienced legislators alongside new faces, they aim to secure a strong position in the upcoming elections.
