JMM MP Mahua Maji Meets Road Accident, Critically Injured; Hospitalised

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji on Wednesday met with a road accident. According to reports, MP Mahua's car accident happened when she was crossing the Latehar region while returning home from Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

Reports said she sustained a fractured left wrist and minor rib damage.

Soon after the accident, she was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors provided her first aid and later she was taken to Orchid Medical Centre in Ranchi.

According to her son, Somvit Maji, who was behind the wheel, recounted the harrowing moment of the crash. He admitted to dozing off while driving at around 3:45 am, which resulted in the vehicle striking an object on the road. The impact was so severe that it filled the car with smoke and left Mahua Maji with a broken wrist and bleeding hands. In a state of panic, the family managed to exit the car, only to realize the extent of her injuries.

"We were returning from Maha Kumbh, Prayagraj when this accident took place...My mother (Mahua Maji) and wife were in the back seat. I was driving the car, and around 3:45 AM, I fell asleep, and the car hit somewhere. There was smoke inside the car, and we tried to come out. I took my mother out of the car, and we saw that her wrist had broken and her hands were bleeding. She told us that she had immense pain in her chest and hands. We admitted her to a hospital in Latehar," Somvit shared.

Upon realizing the gravity of her condition, the family wasted no time in transferring her to a facility in Ranchi for advanced medical care. "After that, we took her to Ranchi. Doctors say that her left hand is broken, and her ribs are lightly damaged. She will have to undergo surgery on her hands. She is able to talk to us. All the tests have been done...," Somvit added, providing a glimpse into the immediate aftermath and the medical steps being taken to ensure her recovery.
