JMM Leader Kalpana Soren Criticises BJP For Ignoring Tribal Women’s Issues In Manipur
Kalpana Soren, a leader from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) foring issues in Manipur. She pointed out that while BJP leaders frequently visit Jharkhand, they have not addressed the problems faced by tribal women in Manipur. Kalpana made these remarks during election rallies in Pakur and Giridih.
She accused the previous BJP government of regressing Jharkhand's development. According to her, their "double-engine" governance led to setbacks, including the closure of thousands of schools and the cancellation of around 11 lakh ration cards. These actions deprived many children of education and essential resources.

JMM's Initiatives for Progress
The JMM-led administration, as per Kalpana, has been proactive in restoring rights to the people. They have initiated Schools of Excellence, ensuring education comparable to English medium institutions. This move aims to uplift educational standards across the state.
Kalpana also highlighted efforts to empower women through financial support under the Maiyan Samman Yojana. The scheme's financial aid will increase from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 starting December. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance women's economic independence.
Advocating for Local Policies
The JMM is pushing for reservations for backward classes and implementing a local policy based on 1932 records. They also seek recognition for the tribal Sarna religious code. Despite passing these measures in the state assembly, Kalpana alleged that they remain pending with the central government.
Kalpana emphasised that these initiatives are crucial for Jharkhand's progress and urged the central government to act promptly. She believes these steps will address longstanding issues and promote equality among various communities in the state.
The JMM continues to advocate for policies that prioritise local needs and cultural recognition. Their focus remains on ensuring equitable growth and safeguarding citizens' rights against any external pressures or neglect.
