J&K cancels mutation of posh land
"A critical analysis of revenue records placed across the case file makes it amply clear that one Krishna Banti was either conferred with the ownership rights of the land or with occupancy tenancy rights under different laws beyond the prescribed scale of entitlement," said Arun Kumar, Financial commissioner Revenue.

Kumar, who delivered judgement from the court of Financial Commissioner Revenue in connection with dispute yesterday, said that the laws which govern the allotment of land for the displaced persons prescribe certain limits but in the case, the same have been far exceeded.

"This requires a detailed enquiry and fixing of responsibility," Kumar added. The beneficiary was alloted over 33 kanals of lands at different areas of Jammu city, which worth crores of rupees.

Terming the allotment of land as a glaring illegality that needs to be corrected, he said, "anyone who is involved in the process of excess allotment requires to show cause as to how and why such things have happened."

While declaring the mutation of the allotment of land as "null and void", Kumar said, "The subordinate revenue officials are restrained from issuing any extract for alienation of land involved in these mutations.

The deputy commissioner Jammu is directed to immediately form a committee of three experiences revenue officials to make detailed enquiry into the matter," he said.
