J&K cop shot dead by militants in Anantnag
He was shot at from close range, a police official told reporters.
An Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir Police was shot dead by suspected terrorists on Monday in Anantnag's Mehandi Kadal.
ASI, Abdul Rasheed, injured in the attack succumbed to his injuries Monday afternoon. He was shot at from close range, a police official told reporters.

The cop was immediately shifted to the district hospital in Anantnag, but doctors there referred him to Srinagar. However, Abdul Rasheed succumbed to his injuries.
He was reportedly on duty without a weapon at Mehandi Kadal in Anantnag.
The dastardly attack on the cop comes two days after the fierce encounter between militants and security forces in southern Pulwama which claimed the lives of a total of eight security personnel and three militants.
Last month, a policeman, Gowhar Nazir Tantray, was shot dead by suspected militants in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
The slain cop, Tantray, was on his motorcycle when militants opened fire on him near the Kanjikulla bridge in Kulgam.
