Jimmy, Brother Of Ratan Tata Lives In A 2 BHK And No Mobile: Here’s His Story
Ratan Tata is widely recognized for his contributions to business, philanthropy, and innovation, placing India on the global map long before many of his contemporaries. In contrast, his younger brother, Jimmy Tata, has led a much more understated life away from the limelight.
Who Is Jimmy Tata?

Jimmy Naval Tata, Ratan Tata's younger brother, has kept a low profile throughout his life, displaying little inclination towards the family business, though he holds a significant share in the Tata Group.
His simple lifestyle has always intrigued many, but it gained notable attention after Ratan Tata shared a black-and-white photo of them on Instagram to commemorate Jimmy's birthday. The heartfelt caption, "Those were happy days. Nothing came between us. (1945 with my brother Jimmy)," highlighted the deep bond they share.
Harsh Vardhan Goenka, chairman of RPG Enterprises, previously shared on X (formerly Twitter) insights about Jimmy's modest way of life. He noted that Jimmy resides in a simple two-bedroom apartment on the sixth floor of Hampton Court in Colaba, Mumbai, and is an accomplished squash player-a skill that Ratan did not possess.
Despite his unassuming lifestyle, Jimmy Tata is far from ordinary in terms of wealth. Notably, he reportedly does not own a mobile phone and prefers to stay informed through books and newspapers rather than contemporary technology. It's also rumored that he rarely ventures outside his home.
While Jimmy Tata embraces simplicity, he possesses considerable wealth, holding significant stakes in various Tata companies, including Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Sons, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Power, Indian Hotels, and Tata Chemicals. Additionally, he serves as a trustee of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, a role he inherited after the passing of their father, Naval Tata, in 1989.
