Jharkhand Weather Report: High Temperatures And Heatwaves

Jharkhand's meteorological department's recently posted on their daily updates that some parts of the state have reached temperatures higher than 40 degrees during the day.

There have also been reports that a heatwave will hit certain parts of the state, as well as thunderstorms in the days after.

Jharkhand Weather Report

Rainfall over Jharkhand:

Only a minor amount of rainfall was observed over isolated towns in Jharkhand. The highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Rajmahal, estimated to be around 70 mm. The next highest amount of rainfall was in Amrapara, estimated to be only 25 mm.

Temperatures in Jharkhand:

The state has been maintaining a high average of temperatures with no significant variations. Major cities like Ranchi have seen temperatures reach up to 37°C during the hottest part of the day, though some towns like Garhwa saw temperatures rise all the way up to 42°C.

The lowest temperatures of some cities and towns saw a significant rise. Bokaro-Thermal and Jamshedpur saw a rise of 6.2°C and 3.4°C respectively, increasing their lowest temperatures significantly.

Weather Forecast For Next Five Days in Jharkhand:

Jharkhand's meteorological department also put out a prediction for any abnormal weather for the next five days.

The department expects light rain to pepper the north-eastern sections of the region. After two days, these light rains are also expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms until 24th May.

The most concerning prediction from the department, however, is that they expect the average temperature to gradually rise by 2-3°C for the next 3 days, during which the region may also experience a heatwave that would hit multiple districts between the 19th and 20th.

Jharkhand had already experienced an extreme heatwave earlier this month, which led to the death of an 11-year-old student of a residential school in Jharkhand Ramgarh district, as reported by Times of India. Readers are encouraged to be careful when going out in the sun for the next couple days.
