Jharkhand shocker: Tribal college student shot dead, head smashed 20 times

Ramgarh, May 6: A college student has been shot dead in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district, media reported.

The victim identified as 31-year-old Sonali Murmu, found dead murdered outside her college with her head smashed on May 4, reported the Zee News.

Murmu, a B.Ed student, was hit on the head at least 20 times with a sharp object. One of her amputated hands was found lying near her body.

According to reports, Murmu was stalked by a man named Suken Mandal for several years even after her marriage.

Victim and alleged accused were known to each other since school days.

"Mandal's role in Murmu's murder is highly suspected as he has been absconding since the murder," M Tamilvanan, Superintendent of Police, was quoted as saying.

Mandal had threatened Murmu and her husband Chitranjan Tudu at the time of their marriage.
