Jharkhand police take murder convict to redlight area in West Bengal, caught in raid

New Delhi, March 22: The Jharkhand Police on Saturday suspended its four constables after it found that they had taken a convicted murderer alongwith them to a red light area in West Bengal.

According to report in NDTV, the four constables on Friday were escorting the jail convict, serving seven-year prison term for murder, to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi for medical check-up.

The constables decided to make a 206-kilometer detour to visit the red light area in West Bengal's Asansol.

Acting on a tip-off, the West Bengal police conducted a raid in the red light area and rounded up the four. The murderer managed to escape and then made his own way back to jail in Koderma in Jharkhand, the report said.

"We have ordered a probe and suspended the four policemen ," Jharkhand Director General of Police DK Pandey has been quoted as saying in media report.
