Polling for the second and final phase of Jharkhand's assembly elections began on Wednesday. Voting is taking place across 38 seats with stringent security measures in place, according to officials. The process started at 7 AM in 14,218 booths spread over 12 districts.
Polling Details and Timings
In some areas, specifically 31 booths, polling will conclude an hour earlier at 4 PM. However, those already in line by that time will still be allowed to vote. A total of 1.23 crore voters are eligible to participate, including 60.79 lakh women and 147 third-gender electors.

The Santhal Pargana region, which includes six districts—Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Sahibganj, and Pakur—accounts for half of the constituencies. The remaining seats are distributed between North Chotanagpur division and two in South Chotanagpur.
Key Candidates and Regions
Among the 528 candidates contesting are Chief Minister Hemant Soren from JMM, his wife Kalpana Soren, and BJP's Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri. The ruling JMM-led INDIA bloc aims to retain power through its welfare initiatives while the BJP-led NDA seeks to regain control.
Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar noted that women manage voting at 239 polling stations. Additionally, persons with disabilities (PwDs) oversee operations at 22 stations. This inclusive approach highlights efforts to ensure diverse participation in the electoral process.
