Jharkhand Government Allocates Rs 530 Crore for New Colleges and Polytechnics

The Jharkhand government recently approved several initiatives in the education sector, including the establishment of engineering colleges and polytechnics with a budget of Rs 530 crore. The cabinet, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, made 29 decisions. Among these, approvals were granted for constructing Government Polytechnic in Chakulia, Jamshedpur, costing Rs 134.18 crore, and Government Engineering College in Jamshedpur at Rs 254.93 crore.

Infrastructure and Education Developments

The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 136.13 crore for building Government Polytechnic in Potka, Jamshedpur. Additionally, Rs 42.83 crore was allocated for the second phase of the Netarhat Tourism Project. Plans to establish institutes similar to Netarhat Residential School in Kolhan, Santhal Pargana, and North Chotanagpur divisions were also approved.

In Garhwa, the government allocated Rs 109.16 crore for road reconstruction projects. Amendments to guidelines for the Anganwadi Centre Building Construction Scheme were also approved. Furthermore, Rs 50 crore was set aside for creating integrated science and mathematics laboratories in elementary schools.

Additional Educational Initiatives

The cabinet decided to close SPV Patratu Energy Limited (PEL) and approved approximately Rs 20 crore for the first three years of implementing the Jharkhand State Institutional Ranking Framework (JSIRF). Another significant decision was the allocation of Rs 39.21 crore for constructing a degree college in Thakurgangti, Godda district.

Approval was also granted for building a women's college in Baharagora with a budget of Rs 38.20 crore. Moreover, amendments were made to the guidelines of the Guruji Students Credit Card scheme to enhance its effectiveness.

These decisions reflect Jharkhand's commitment to improving educational infrastructure and facilities across the state. By investing in new institutions and upgrading existing ones, the government aims to provide better educational opportunities for its residents.
