Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: From Champai To Geeta; Party Wise List Of Key Candidates And Constituencies
Voting is currently taking place for the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections. This phase features elections in 43 out of the state's 81 constituencies, with 1.37 crore eligible voters out of a total of 2.60 crore registered voters.
A total of 683 candidates are contesting for these 43 seats, which include 17 general seats, 20 for Scheduled Tribes, and 6 for Scheduled Castes. Polling will take place from 7 am to 5 pm at 15,344 polling stations across the state.

Key candidates to watch in Phase-1 of the Jharkhand elections include former CM and BJP candidate Champai Soren, state health minister Banna Gupta, former CM Raghubar Das' daughter-in-law Purnima Das, ex-CM Madhu Koda's wife Geeta Koda, and Congress leader Ajoy Kumar.
Champai Soren will face off against Ganesh Mahli of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Seraikella. Geeta Koda, contesting on a BJP ticket, will challenge Congress' Sona Ram Sinku in Jagannathpur. In Ranchi, JMM Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji will battle BJP leader CP Singh. Ajoy Kumar of Congress will face Purnima Das, daughter-in-law of Raghubar Das, in Jamshedpur East. Banna Gupta, the state health minister, will contest against JD(U)'s Saryu Roy in Jamshedpur West.
