Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Check Congress' List Of Candidates Here

The Congress party has announced its candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections in 2024. Among the notable names are Ajoy Kumar for Jamshedpur East, Irfan Ansari for Jamtara, and Pradeep Yadav for Poreyahat. Jai Prakash Patel will contest from Mandu, Banna Gupta from Jamshedpur West, and Rameshwar Oraon from Lohardaga.

The elections are scheduled in two phases on November 13 and November 20. The vote counting will occur on November 23. Approximately 2.60 crore voters are expected to participate, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 1.13 lakh individuals with disabilities, third-gender persons, and senior citizens over 85 years old.

2019 Jharkhand Election Results

In the last assembly elections held in 2019, the JMM-led alliance emerged victorious with a total of 47 seats. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) secured 30 seats, while the Congress won 16 seats and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) got one seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to win only 25 seats.

The BJP is keen to regain control in Jharkhand after losing power to the JMM-led coalition in the previous election. The state is predominantly tribal, which plays a significant role in its political dynamics.

Voter Demographics

Compared to the 2019 elections, there is an increase in voter numbers this time around. In the previous election, there were about 2.23 crore eligible voters. This year sees a rise in first-time voters and other special categories of electors.

In addition to major parties like BJP and Congress, other parties also made their mark in the last elections. JVM-P won three seats, AJSU Party secured two seats, while CPI-ML and NCP each won one seat alongside two Independent candidates.

The upcoming elections are crucial for all parties involved as they aim to strengthen their presence in Jharkhand's political landscape. With increased voter participation expected this year, it remains to be seen how these dynamics will influence the election outcome.
