Jharkhand Assembly Election: When Are Polls Being Held, In How Many Phases?

Jharkhand is set to hold assembly elections later this year. The Election Commission is expected to announce the dates for the state elections soon.

Reports suggest that the Election Commission could announce the election dates for both Jharkhand and Maharashtra in the next two to three days.

This time, the Jharkhand Assembly elections are likely to be conducted in two phases. According to sources, the announcement could be made by October 14 or 15, and with it, the Model Code of Conduct will come into effect in Jharkhand.

It's worth noting that Jharkhand's Foundation Day is on the November 15. There is a strong possibility that the elections in could also be held around the same day.

The results are expected to be declared in the third week of November. Interestingly, the term of the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand officially ends on the January 5, 2025, the elections will be held before that.

Announcement by October 17

The new Maharashtra Assembly should be constituted before November 26, which makes it necessary for the election announcement to be made before October 17. There must be a 40-day gap between the announcement of elections and the declaration of results.

It is expected that the election process will conclude by the third week of November. There is a possibility that voting in Jharkhand will be held in three phases after November 15, and the election process will be completed by the third week of November.

Elections to be held for 81 assembly seats

All political parties are gearing up for the Jharkhand Assembly elections. Leaders are actively campaigning for all the seats. It will be a direct contest between the INDIA alliance and the NDA.

The 2019 elections were held in five phases between November 30 and December 20, with the results declared on December 23.

Following the Mahagathbandhan's victory, Hemant Soren took the oath as CM.
