Jharkhand: 4 government officials released

Jharkhand
Ranchi, Jan 27: Three days after being kidnapped by suspected Naxals in Jharkhand's Giridih district, the four government officials have been released and are being escorted back to their village by security forces.

They had been abducted from the Navkaniya village in Giridih district on Saturday night when they were on duty for NREGA and social security pension work. While there were no ransom calls and with no clues whatsoever, the Jharkhand Police and the Central Reserve Police Force launched a combing operation in the forest area.

Following their kidnap, government officials threatened to go on strike if immediate action was not taken to bring them back.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, had held a meeting with the Director General of Police and asked him to secure the release of the officials immediately.
