Security Forces Neutralize 3 Suspected JeM Terrorists in Doda, J&K

Three terrorists, believed to be linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), were killed in a six-hour gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Wednesday, officials reported. The encounter took place in a forest area, bringing relief to locals who had been terrorised by their presence.

3 JeM Terrorists Killed in Doda

A policeman was injured during the gunfight that began around 9:50 am in Bajaad village, Gandoh area. The operation was launched by the police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following twin terror attacks on June 11 and 12 in the hill district.

Security Forces Intensify Operations

After the twin attacks, security forces intensified anti-terrorist operations and announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each for information about four Pakistani terrorists who had infiltrated into the district. Six security personnel were injured when terrorists attacked a joint check post at Chattargalla on June 11. The next day, a policeman was hurt in a gunfight with terrorists at Kota top in Gandoh.

During an operation in Sinoo panchayat, forces came under heavy fire from terrorists hiding in a mud house. One terrorist was killed after he emerged and started firing on the search parties. Heavy gunfire and explosions continued as two more terrorists were eliminated later in the day.

Arms and Ammunition Seized

A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists. This included two M4 carbines, one fitted with a night-vision device, an AK-series assault rifle, and six grenades. The identity and group affiliation of the terrorists could not be immediately confirmed.

An Army helicopter provided surveillance during the encounter. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, along with other senior police officials, supervised the operation. Jain mentioned that efforts are ongoing to determine if these terrorists were involved in the Chattargalla incident.

Community Cooperation

Brigadier Sunil Mishra of Rashtriya Rifles led the operation and praised the well-coordinated effort by security forces to eliminate the terrorists without any casualties. He noted that people are cooperating with forces and providing credible information about terrorist activities.

This was the second major encounter in Jammu this month. On June 11-12, two Pakistani terrorists and a CRPF jawan were killed in a 15-hour-long operation in Kathua district's Hiranagar sector. Authorities attribute the increase in terror activities to attempts by Pakistani handlers to revive terrorism in the region.

Recent Terror Attacks

On June 9, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims returning from Shiv Khori temple in Reasi district. Nine people, including the driver and conductor, were killed, and 41 others were injured. Internet mobile services have been suspended in Gandoh and nearby areas as a precautionary measure.

A Chinese hand grenade was found late Tuesday evening by a patrolling party of security forces in Pind village, Rajouri district's Chingus area. The discovery adds to concerns about increasing terror activities in Jammu.

The ADGP stated that three to four terrorist groups are believed to have infiltrated from Pakistan. Overall, at least seven terrorist groups are active in Jammu region. A massive search operation is underway to neutralise all active terrorists.

The presence of terrorists was reported from Gandoh on June 12, leading to an encounter that left one policeman injured. Jain urged people to come forward with information about those supporting these terrorists so they can be brought to justice.

The recent surge in terror activities has prompted authorities to take stringent measures to ensure peace and security in Jammu region. Security forces remain vigilant and committed to eliminating terrorist threats.
