JEE Main Exam 2024 Rules: Biometric Attendance And Frisking After Toilet Breaks

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) has come up with an additional layer of security to curb unfair practices like proxy attendance.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made it compulsory for all the candidates, officials, observers, staff members and refreshment serving staff to undergo biometric attendance and frisking after using the restroom.

The step is taken to make exams cheating proofs completely. Soon, the same process will be applied to other exams.

Cheating in the JEE Exam

In 2023, five students were caught cheating in the JEE Advanced exam. They were caught clicking screenshots of the questions from the computer screen and sharing them on WhatsApp.

Among the five, the two had hidden their phones in their innerwear and one candidate had hidden his phone in his shoe.

The JEE Main 2021 exam was hacked by a Russian national, Mikhail Shargin to help 820 students in cheating. The investigation revealed that "remote access" was given from an exam centre in Sonepat, Haryana.

When is the JEE Main Exam?

The JEE Main 2024 Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be conducted from January 24 to February 1 and the second edition will be conducted from April 1 to April 15.

The NTA has received 12.3 lakh applications for the exam.

What is JEE (Main)?

The JEE (Main) is a test that students across India take to get admission into technical institutions like IITs and NITs. The top 20 per cent of the merit list are eligible for the JEE (Advanced), the entrance test for the IITs.
