JDS MLC Suraj Revanna Charged Following Allegations by Party Worker

In a recent development that has stirred the political landscape, JDS MLC Suraj Revanna finds himself embroiled in a serious legal battle. The eldest son of Holenarasipura MLA H.D. Revanna, Suraj Revanna, has been accused of sodomising a party worker at his farmhouse in Ghannikada, Holenarasipura Taluk, on the evening of June 16. The complainant, Chethan K.S., aged 27, has brought these allegations to light, prompting the Holenarasipura police to register a case against Suraj Revanna under IPC sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Suraj Revanna, aged 37 and a prominent figure with familial ties to former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, has vehemently denied these accusations. He asserts that the allegations are part of an extortion scheme aimed at him, with Chethan demanding a hefty sum of Rs 5 crore. In a twist to the tale, police action has also been taken against Chethan for alleged extortion attempts. A case was filed against him following a complaint by Suraj Revanna's close aide, Shivakumar, who claims that Chethan sought to leverage false charges of sexual assault for financial gain.

The narrative further complicates with the involvement of Suraj's brother, former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. Prajwal is currently under police custody facing charges of sexually assaulting several women. His arrest on May 31 came as a shockwave to many, especially considering his recent return from Germany amidst ongoing legal troubles. The Revanna family is no stranger to controversy; both parents of Suraj and Prajwal are out on bail related to allegations of kidnapping and harboring an alleged victim of Prajwal's sexual assaults.
