Jayalalithaa not well? After DMK, TN Cong too wants to know Jaya's health status
Villupuram (TN), Jul 13: Days after DMK chief Karunanidhi sought to know the health status of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E V K S Elangovan today appealed that information be disclosed in this regard.
"There may be political differences, but Jayalalithaa is the Chief Minister for all the people, hence everyone has a right to know about her health status," Elangovan told reporters here.
Elangovan is here to meet party workers as part of his statewide tour ahead of party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's visit to Tamil Nadu on July 23.
Jayalalithaa appeal: Will it be 90 days or a week?
On July 2, Karunanidhi had said that the Tamil Nadu government should give details related to Jayalalithaa's illness as people would be interested in knowing the same. His remarks came a day after Jayalalithaa skipped an Iftar event hosted by her party citing sudden illness.
Her address was read out by Finance Minister O Pannerselvam in the Iftar party, in which she had said, "I am unable to come to the Iftar party due to a sudden illness though it is my wish to participate in it (organised by AIADMK) as usual."
Since then there has also been speculation in a section of media on her health status.
