Jaya calls Mamata after parting ways with Left
Chennai, March 7: A day after the Tamil Nadu regional party AIADMK cut its ties with the Left Front, the state chief minister and AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa contacted West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, said an CNN-IBN report.

Mamata had also said that she was happy to support Jayalalithaa as PM candidate

Reportedly, Jayaa wished Mamata for the Lok Sabha polls. In an interview, Mamata had told CNN-IBN that she was willing to work with Jaya. Mamata had also said that she was happy to support Jayalalithaa as PM candidate.

Jayalalithaa decided to part ways with the Third Front after the two Left parties, which contested three seats each in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, refused to compromise on numbers, reported media.

With Lok Sabha elections looming, it seems the southern supremo is keeping her options open.

Meanwhile, there is trouble brewing inside DMK, the rival party of AIADMK. It is known that the party chief K Karunanidhi wants to maintain an allaince with Congress while his son MK Stalin is pushing for an alliance with BJP. Today the party has called a district leaders' meeting.
