Modi hosts dinner for Japanese PM at heritage hotel in Ahmedabad
The Prime Minister will take Abe to Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram and also to the 16th century Sidi Saiyyed mosque in the city.
After a grand 8-km long roadshow and a visit to Sabarmati Ashram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe's next stop would be 16th century Sidi Saiyyed Mosque in Ahmedabad.
Modi received Abe and his wife upon their arrival at the Ahmedabad airport after which they embarked on a roadshow from the airport to the Sabarmati Ashram. Several cultural programs were planned for the roadshow in which artistes from different states wearing traditional attire performed.

Upon reaching the Sabarmati Ashram, both leaders offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Modi took Abe and his wife around the ashram. Modi seemed to explain in great detail about life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi's life as took them to different parts of the ashram.

After a tour around Sabarmati Ashram, Abe also wrote in the visitor's book of Ashram. Modi also showed them the 'charkha' and other belongings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Famed globally for its exquisite stone lattice work or jalis, the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is not just an architectural marvel, but also the symbolic icon of Ahmedabad city.

Modi hosted dinner for Abe and his wife, Akie Abe, for dinner at a terrace restaurant, Agashiye, at the heritage hotel House of Mangaldas and Girdhardas.

Abe arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday for a two-day India visit. Abe was received at the airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who shares a good rapport with his Japanese counterpart.
The visit, which is Abe's first since December 2015, is part of an agreement between the leaders to make alternating bilateral visits. Modi visited Japan in November last year.
Modi and Abe will on Thursday lay the foundation stone for the Rs 1.1 lakh-crore Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. As many as 10,000 people would attend the ground-breaking ceremony for the bullet train project to be held at the Athletics Ground near the Sabarmati Railway Station in the city.
According to reports, Abe will Modi for the sale of the US 2i amphibious aircraft ShinMayWa from Japan. The is said to be worth 1.3 billion dollars and the two countries had differences over the price.
