Jamtara: Train Runs Over Passengers In Jharkhand, 12 Dead, Several Injured
Jamtara: According to the reports, more than 12 people died on the spot and several got injured after a high-speed train ran over them. The saddening incident happened at Jharkhand's Jamtara on Wednesday.
Reports added that Railways police, local administration, and ambulances have reached the spot swiftly to provide immediate relief.

Shedding light on the tragic incident, Jamtara's SDM Anant Kumar said, "Two bodies have been recovered. We've requested Railways to start a helpline number...The reason will be known after investigation."
"A train ran over the passengers at Kalajharia railway station in Jamtara. Some deaths have been reported. The exact number of deaths will be confirmed later. Medical teams and ambulances rushed to the spot, " Deputy Commissioner, Jamtara, said,
Talking to the media, Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari said, "I am leaving for the spot... I have given the directions to identify those responsible for it. We will also raise the issue in the Assembly... The deceased have not been identified yet..."
At first, it was said that the passengers of the train jumped onto the track after false news of fire on their train surfaced and another train crushed them to death. However, the Easter railway later said two persons walking on the track were run over by the train at least 2 km away from train no. 12254 passing from Vidyasagar Kasitar. There is no incident of fire.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief on micro-blogging site X, formerly known as Twitter. PM Modi said, "Pained by the mishap in Jamtara, Jharkhand. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon."
Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren also mourned the train accident. "Heart is saddened by the sad news of a train accident near Kaljharia station of Jamtara. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this difficult time of grief. The administration team is engaged in relief and rescue work on the spot. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident."
