6,000 Security Personnel Martyred in Jammu and Kashmir: DGP R R Swain
Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police (DGP), R R Swain, revealed that approximately 6,000 security personnel have lost their lives while performing their duties in militancy-related incidents. Among these fallen heroes, over 1,600 belonged to the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
DGP Swain Pays Tribute to Martyrs
DGP Swain emphasized the unwavering commitment of the J&K Police in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and integrity. He made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the 12th Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament held in Kathua.
Upon his arrival at the venue, DGP Swain paid solemn tribute to the fallen heroes of the J&K Police by laying wreaths at the martyrs' gallery.
Welfare Schemes for Martyrs' Families
During an interaction with the media on the sidelines of the ceremony, DGP Swain highlighted the various welfare schemes implemented for the families of J&K Police martyrs. These schemes are funded under the Police Contributory Fund.
'Sevara' Scheme for Support and Assistance
Speaking at the event, ADGP Anand Jain mentioned the 'Sevara' scheme, under which the J&K Police regularly visit the families of martyrs to address their concerns and provide necessary support.
