Jammu & Kashmir: Security Forces Eliminate 1 Terrorist In A Gunfight, 2 Trapped

A fierce encounter is underway in the Akhal forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Security forces have killed one terrorist, while two others remain trapped. This operation, named Operation Akhal, was confirmed by Chinar Corps on X. The militants belong to The Resistance Front (TRF), a faction of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and are linked to a recent attack in Pahalgam.

The joint operation involves the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police. They acted on intelligence reports about terrorist movements in the area. The confrontation began when the terrorists fired at security personnel during a search mission. Officials suspect the terrorists are hiding inside Dachigam National Park near Srinagar.

Security Forces Intensify Efforts

Security forces have cordoned off the area to neutralise the remaining militants. This gunfight follows Operation Mahadev, where three Pakistani TRF terrorists were eliminated. Among them was Suleiman Shah, alias Musa Fauji, a top Lashkar commander and key conspirator behind the Pahalgam attack.

A significant cache of arms was seized from their hideout during Operation Mahadev. The recovered weapons included 17 grenades, an M4 carbine, and two AK-47 rifles. Intelligence reports indicate that five TRF terrorists were active in this region.

Ongoing Operations Against Militants

With three terrorists neutralised in Operation Mahadev and one killed today in Operation Akhal, only one terrorist is believed to be still at large. Security forces continue their efforts to apprehend or eliminate this remaining threat.
