Jammu & Kashmir Police Release Sketches of Doda Terrorists, Announce Reward
In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday disclosed the release of sketches related to four individuals suspected of terrorism in the Doda district. This announcement follows closely on the heels of two separate attacks that targeted security forces, leaving seven personnel injured. The authorities have declared a substantial reward of Rs 20 lakh for information that could lead to the arrest of these suspects.

The incidents that prompted this action included an assault on a joint checkpoint manned by the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and local police at Chattergalla in Bhaderwah. Another attack occurred against a search party within the Gandoh area of the district, highlighting a concerning pattern of violence in these regions. According to a police spokesperson, the sketches represent individuals believed to be operating in the rugged terrains of Bhaderwah, Thathri, and Gandoh, engaging in terror-related activities. In an effort to encourage public cooperation, a reward of Rs 5 lakh has been set for information on each identified terrorist.
The police's appeal to the public underscores a strategic approach to counter-terrorism efforts, emphasizing community involvement as crucial to tracking down these fugitives. This initiative is part of a broader response to recent terrorist activities, including a distressing attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district. The latter incident saw terrorists opening fire on a bus filled with pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi, resulting in nine fatalities and over forty injuries. The bus was en route from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra when it was ambushed near Teryath village in the Poni area, subsequently crashing into a deep gorge.
This series of attacks not only highlights the persistent threat posed by terrorism in the region but also reflects the challenges faced by security forces in safeguarding civilians and religious pilgrims against such acts of violence. The Jammu and Kashmir Police's proactive measures, including the release of terrorist sketches and the announcement of rewards for valuable information, signify a determined effort to restore peace and order. The community's cooperation is pivotal in this endeavor as authorities work tirelessly to apprehend those responsible for disrupting peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.
The situation remains tense as investigations continue, with security forces on high alert to prevent further incidents. The collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities is essential for achieving lasting security and thwarting future attacks. As this complex situation unfolds, the resolve of both security personnel and civilians will be tested as they stand united against terrorism.
