In a recent visit to the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain checked on the condition of a policeman wounded in a terror attack in Doda district. The incident, which involved an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Kota top area of Gandoh late Wednesday, resulted in Constable Fareed of the Jammu and Kashmir Police sustaining injuries. He was subsequently moved to the GMC Hospital for specialized treatment.

"Our Constable Fareed is now stable. He is getting the best treatment. All the bullets have been taken out from his body and he is being taken good care of. His family is also present with him," stated DGP Swain during his interaction with reporters post-visit. The DGP expressed optimism about Constable Fareed's recovery, highlighting the expectation that he will soon be fit to return to duty.

Addressing the broader security situation, DGP Swain commented on the recent terror incidents across different districts in the Jammu province. He revealed that approximately 20 to 25 foreign terrorists pose a current threat but reassured that they would be effectively countered by security forces. "A security challenge is there from across the border, less from within and more from outside. When a group of foreign terrorists come here as mercenaries with only the intention of killing or getting killed, we are ready with our response and with our preparedness and coordination to defeat them," Swain elaborated.

The DGP's statements underscore a determined stance against terrorism, emphasizing both the challenges and resilience faced by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. With a history of confronting such threats, the assurance of defeating these foreign terrorists reflects a continued commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.
