J&K: Health minister continues to evade the law

Shabir Khan
New Delhi, Feb 13: Former health minister Shabir Ahmad Khan who has been accused of sexually assaulting a lady doctor is evading law ever since he has resigned from his post.

With the pressure for his arrest mounting, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker gave permission for the arrest of the sitting Congress MLA from Rajouri. However, he is nowhere to be seen now.

After his bail application was rejected in the Jammu court, the minister is evading all media contacts and is yet to depose before the police. The police has raided various places in Jammu including his official residence, but were unable to trace him.

The minister is alleged to have called a lady doctor to his office on the pretext of information sharing and made inappropriate advances. Meanwhile, the opposition PDP and the BJP members accused the state government of shielding Khan calling it "a scam and scandalous government."
