Jammu and Kashmir DGP Visits Injured Inspector at SKIMS Hospital in Soura
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain visited SKIMS Hospital in Soura to enquire about the condition of an inspector who was shot by a terrorist. Swain assured the inspector's family of all possible help.
In a recent visit to SKIMS Hospital in Soura, Srinagar on November 6th, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain enquired about the condition of an inspector who was shot at and injured by a terrorist on October 29. The DGP also met with Inspector Masroor Wani's father during his visit, assuring him that all possible help will be provided.

Inspector Masroor Wani was playing cricket at the Eidgah playground when he was attacked by a lone terrorist who fired three shots at him from close range. The injuries sustained were severe, affecting his eye, abdomen and neck. Medical Superintendent of SKIMS Hospital Farooq John has reported that Wani's condition remains critical and he continues to be on life support.
DGP Swain's Visit
DGP Swain along with Kashmir Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Vijay Kumar visited the hospital to check on Wani’s health status. During his visit, DGP Swain directed that Wani should receive the best possible treatment available. He also had an extensive conversation with Wani's father where he assured him that every possible assistance would be provided to their family.
Support from High-Ranking Officials
The police chief informed Wani's father that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary Home R K Goyal along with other top-ranking officers are enquiring about Wani’s health daily. This shows significant concern from high-ranking officials regarding this incident.
Aid for Immediate Medical Expenses
To aid in meeting immediate medical expenses for Inspector Masroor Wani, DGP Swain handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the family. He assured them that both the government and the police department would provide all possible help, including airlifting the officer outside Jammu and Kashmir as and when required.
Call for Strength
DGP Swain encouraged Wani's family to remain strong during this challenging time, reminding them that they are in the thoughts and prayers of thousands of police personnel and common citizens across India.
In conclusion, this incident has led to an outpouring of support from high-ranking officials as well as common citizens. The visit by DGP Swain not only provided immediate financial aid but also emotional support to Inspector Masroor Wani's family. It is hoped that with continued care and assistance, Inspector Masroor Wani will recover soon from his critical condition.
