Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Orders Immediate Relief for Warwan Valley Residents Affected by Cloudburst

Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister has instructed the administration to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation for families impacted by a recent cloudburst in Warwan Valley. The incident caused significant damage to homes and agricultural land but resulted in no reported fatalities.

On Saturday night, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah instructed officials to provide immediate aid and rehabilitation for those impacted by a cloudburst in Kishtwar's Warwan Valley. The incident on Wednesday evening damaged 15 houses and large areas of farmland in Margi hamlet. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The chief minister expressed his sorrow over the destruction caused by the flash floods in Warwan, Kishtwar, through a post on X. Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Sharma and Kishtwar SSP Naresh Singh traveled to Warwan on Saturday morning to evaluate the situation firsthand.

Immediate Relief Efforts

Chief Minister Abdullah emphasized the need for swift relief, rehabilitation, and restoration of connectivity. He also stressed reaching out to the Bakerwals in higher regions to ensure their safety. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Marwah Mohd Ashraf reported that the cloudburst in Margi village completely destroyed 14–15 houses and partially damaged over 100 others, affecting more than 100 families.

Despite the absence of fatalities, authorities are assessing other damages while rescue operations continue. A community kitchen has been established by the government to support those affected, and efforts to restore essential supplies are ongoing.

The administration is focused on providing immediate assistance and ensuring that basic needs are met for those impacted by this natural disaster. The priority remains on restoring normalcy and safeguarding the well-being of all residents in the affected areas.
