Jammu And Kashmir Police Detain 50 Suspects After Pilgrim Bus Attack

Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained 50 suspects linked to the recent terror attack on a pilgrims' bus in Reasi. The attack killed nine, including a minor, and injured 41 others. The terrorists opened fire on a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims in the Reasi district.

The detentions occurred after an extensive investigation by the police and security forces. These efforts revealed significant leads that helped identify and capture individuals potentially involved in the attack, according to a police spokesperson.

Search Operations Expanded

To ensure a thorough probe, search operations have expanded to the remote areas of Arnas and Mahore. These locations were known terrorist hotbeds between 1995 and 2005. The spokesperson added that the expanded search aims to uncover further evidence and arrest any terrorists hiding in these regions.

The tragic incident occurred on June 9 when a bus transporting pilgrims to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra plunged into a deep gorge after being fired upon by terrorists. The bus carried pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi.

Commitment to Justice and Security

The law enforcement agencies are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice. They are also working to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors in the area, the spokesperson said.

Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have released sketches of four terrorists involved in attacks in the Doda district. They announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to their arrest.

High Alert in Several Districts

Several districts, including Sunderbani, Nowshera, Domana, Lamberi, and Akhnoor in Rajouri and Jammu, have been put on high alert. This comes after intelligence agencies warned of more attacks by terror outfits on security forces.

The agencies have cautioned about plans by terror groups to launch 'fidayeen' (suicide) attacks on security force camps and installations. Officials have asked for maximum alert in these areas.
