In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended an individual from Tamil Nadu in connection with a financial fraud case that recently surfaced in the union territory. Acting swiftly upon the statements provided by victims and leveraging technical and digital evidence, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) successfully identified six accused individuals, all residing outside the boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir.

Collaborative Efforts for Apprehension

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police formed specialized teams with the primary objective of apprehending the identified accused individuals. Their efforts bore fruit when one of the accused was apprehended in Tamil Nadu and subsequently taken into police custody, as confirmed by a police spokesperson on Sunday.

Ongoing Investigation and Assessment

The investigation into the financial fraud case is ongoing, with the police actively pursuing the remaining accused individuals. Concurrently, meticulous efforts are being made to ascertain the extent of financial losses incurred by the victims through the collection of relevant evidence and witness statements. To safeguard the interests of the affected individuals, all the company's account numbers have been frozen, ensuring that no further financial transactions can take place.

Scrutiny of Employees and Social Media Influencers

The investigation has expanded to include employees and local contacts of the primary accused individuals, as their potential involvement cannot be overlooked. Additionally, social media influencers who promoted the fraudulent company through various platforms are also under scrutiny, with the police thoroughly examining their actions and determining their level of involvement in the criminal activities.

Extent of Complaints and Modus Operandi

As of now, the Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone Srinagar has received a total of 27 complaints related to the fraudulent company. The modus operandi employed by the company involved operating under the name Curative Survey Private Limited and luring unsuspecting individuals through a fraudulent website. By promising substantial returns on investments, the company deceived subscribers and convinced them to invest their hard-earned money. However, after misrepresenting the facts and cheating the investors, the company became unresponsive, leaving the subscribers in a state of confusion and distress.

The investigation is progressing steadily, with a focus on assessing the extent of financial losses, scrutinizing the involvement of employees and social media influencers, and ensuring that justice is served for the victims of this fraudulent scheme.
