Jagannath Rath Yatra Begins In Ahmedabad; Amit Shah Performs 'Mangla Aarti'

Rath Yatra 2024: The Jagannath Rath Yatra commenced in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and his wife marked their present at the Jagannath Temple. They also performed the 'mangla aarti' ahead of the annual Rath Yatra. A massive footfall of devotees was recorded on both sides of the route to have a glimpse of the deities. The chariot (raths) of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra and Subhadra, which is pulled by Khalashi community members.

Started at around 7 am, more than 400-year-old tradition of Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra started from the Shhri Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur area and will return by 8 pm after passing through various routs in the Old City.

CM Bhupendra Patel performed the 'PahindVidhi', the symbolic cleaning of the path for the chariot of Jagannath for Rath Yatra.

The state government has deployed over 15,000 security personnel for the 147th annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath began in Ahmedabad, that expects thousands of devotees.

Sharing the details of security arrangements, JCP Ahmedabad Police, Neeraj Badgujar said, "Today, the 147th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath will take place. Rehearsals have been done for this Rath Yatra by the Police. More than 15,000 police personnel have been deployed...Technology like CCTV and drone surveillance will also be used. Arrangements have been made so that the devotees do not face any trouble."
