Jadhav's death sentence was preemptive Pak action to cover their spy
Lt Colonel Muhammad Habib Zahir was part of the team that nabbed Kulbhushan Jadhav. He is today suspected to be in Indian custody. The Indian agencies were on the trail of Zahir for long. Today sources say that the death sentence awarded to Jadhav may be linked to the disappearance of Zahir.

It is interesting to note that the moment the Pakistanis learnt about the disappearance of Zahir, the announcement regarding the sentence of Jadhav was made. Indian officials suspect that Pakistan did not want the news of Zahir to become public and hence the action against Jadhav was taken.
Zahir had retired from the Pakistan Army in 2014. After that he was engaged by the ISI for some operations. He was part of the team which arrested Jadhav. Zahir was lured into Nepal after a call from a UK phone number was made to him. The caller promised him of a big catch. On April 2 Zahir arrived in Nepal and reached Nepal the next day. He was then handed over a SIM card at Bhairawa. This he was told was to be used to speak to the point person who would give him the further lead.
