J&K: Terrorists attack Army camp in Keran sector, 2 soldiers injured

Two army jawans were injured in an attack near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Keran sector on Thursday.

Security forces have launched major combing and sanitising operation to clear the area on the LoC in the Keran sector.

"Terrorists opened fire on a link patrol ahead of the fence at the Line of Control in Keran sector," a defence spokesperson said in Srinagar.

He said two soldiers were injured in the firing, which was retaliated to by army personnel.

The operation was in progress when last reports came in, he added.

The attack comes on a day when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on a two-day visit to the state to review the security situation.

He is scheduled to visit border district of Kupwara on Friday morning.

Also, this is the fourth infiltration bid to have been foiled since the Ramzan truce on May 17.

On May 18, five newly-infiltrated terrorists were killed close to LoC in Handwara forest. Five terrorists were killed after Army foiled major infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector on May 26.

Army foiled a major infiltration bid and killed three terrorists when they were trying to sneak in from the other side of Line of Control (LoC) in Macchil sector of Kupwara district on Wednesday.
