J&K- Students given option of attempting 50 per cent of questions during exams

The board says that the decision to give the 50 per cent relaxation to students was arrived at following an assessment regarding the completion of the syllabus.

The students appearing for examinations in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) will have the option of answering only 50 per cent of the questions. This has been announced with a view of saving the academic careeers of students who have not been able to attend classes for over 100 days now owing the ongoing unrest in the Valley.

The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education said exams will be conducted as per the already issued date-sheet although students of class 10 and 12. Further it has also been announced that the examinations to be held on November 14 and 15 will start at 11 AM and not 1 PM.

The board says that the decision to give the 50 per cent relaxation to students was arrived at following an assessment regarding the completion of the syllabus.

The board has also decided that the examinations would be held only in the government institutions. It has decided not to include any private schools as examination centres.
The board explained that the papers were redesigned. Students will have a choice
to attempt only 50 percent of the paper.

All questions with internal choice has to be considered as independent questions and students will have the choice to attempt half portion of the question paper. For language papers like English, Functional English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and others, the students have to attempt only 50 marks out of 100.
