J&K Polls 2024: Apni Party Names 24 Candidates, Altaf Bukhari To Contest Chanapora

The Apni Party has unveiled a new list of 24 candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. This announcement covers candidates for the second and third phases of the election. Notably, party chief Altaf Bukhari will contest from the Chanapora constituency. Other prominent names include Mohammad Ashraf Mir for Lal Chowk, Ghulam Hassan Mir for Gulmarg, and Ghulam Mohammad War for Sopore.

Earlier on August 21, the Apni Party had released its first list of eight candidates for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. During this event, the party also launched its manifesto, which promises to advocate for constitutional guarantees to preserve the culture and special identity of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, they aim to work towards restoring statehood to the Union Territory.

Apni Party's Election Manifesto

The manifesto was presented at a press conference in Srinagar by Rafi Mir, the party's general secretary who will be contesting from Pahalgam constituency. The first phase of elections is scheduled for September 18, covering seats primarily in south Kashmir. Senior leaders joined Rafi Mir during this announcement.

The Election Commission of India has set the dates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Voting will occur in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1. The results are expected to be declared on October 4. This election marks the first since Article 370 was abrogated and Jammu and Kashmir was reorganised into two Union Territories in 2019.

Key Candidates Announced

Among other candidates announced are Syed Manzoor Hussian Shah from Rajouri, Advocate Lovely Mangol from Samba, and Shah Mohammad Tantray from Poonch Haveli. These selections reflect a strategic approach by the Apni Party as they prepare for a significant electoral battle.

The Apni Party's candidate list aims to cover various constituencies across Jammu and Kashmir comprehensively. This move is part of their broader strategy to gain substantial representation in the legislative assembly.

Altaf Bukhari's candidacy from Chanapora is particularly noteworthy as it underscores his leadership role within the party. His participation is expected to galvanise support among voters in that region.

The upcoming elections are crucial as they represent a significant political event post-2019 reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir. The outcomes will likely influence future political dynamics in the region.

With polling dates approaching rapidly, all eyes are on how these candidates will fare in their respective constituencies. The Apni Party's comprehensive candidate list reflects their preparedness and strategic planning ahead of these pivotal elections.
