J&K: Policeman shot at by terrorists in Shopian

The condition of the injured policeman, who is posted at Anantnag, is stated to be stable.

Srinagar, Aug 31: Terrorists on Thursday shot at a Sub-Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Barbugh area of Shopian district. The policeman was injured in the incident.

Sub-Inspector Gowhar Ahmad was shot by militants in the leg at a field near his residence at Imam Sahib in Shopian, 52 kms from Srinagar, around 7 pm, PTI quoted a police official as saying.

The officer was taken to a hospital, from where he was referred to the Bone and Joint hospital in Srinagar for treatment, said reports.

The condition of the injured policeman, who is posted at Anantnag, is stated to be stable. Ahmad had gone home to celebrate Eid with his family.

On August 20, a man was gunned down by the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.

On August 15, a police bunker at Tengpora bypass in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, was fired upon by the terrorists.

On August 13, two police personnel were injured after terrorists attacked a police search party in Bandipora's Hajin area of Jammu and Kashmir.
