The Indian Army is strongly retaliating to the unprovoked firing from automatic weapons and mortar shelling from across the border.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan intermittently attacked Indian villages along the International Border in Jammu, Sambha and Kathua districts. Heavy mortar shells were targeted in RS Pura, Arnia, Ramgarh, Samba and Hiranagar sectors. Five civilians including a minor boy and a woman were killed while over 40 persons including five BSF personnel, were injured on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, all schools within five kms of the border are closed as a precautionary measure. The administration has deployed police forces in border areas to help those affected, reach safety. Relief camps have been set up, to ensure those displaced by Pakistan's ceasefire violations face minimum hardship.
