J-K govt approves creation of separate Horticulture Department
Srinagar, July 29: Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the creation of a separate department for Horticulture which will look after production, marketing and planning of this vital sector of the state's economy.
"The Cabinet approved creation of a separate Department of Horticulture and its inclusion in the First Schedule of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Business Rules," an official spokesman said.

The Cabinet met here yesterday with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the chair. "The Cabinet approved deletion of subjects viz Horticulture, Horticulture Marketing and Planning and Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation Limited from the Agriculture Production Department and assigning these subjects to the Horticulture Department," the spokesman said.
The cabinet also approved renaming of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department as the 'Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs', he added.
