J&K Assembly polls: BJP seeking votes on Vajpayee’s name?
Srinagar, Nov 25: The first phase polling to the 15 constituencies of the 87-member Legislative Assembly is underway in Jammu and Kashmir.
The political parties in Jammu & Kashmir left no stone unturned to woo voters in these Assembly segments. The BJP which is riding high after its success in recently concluded Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly polls, now aims to form Government in the terrorism-hit State.
BJP which is known for its fierce campaigning, has invoked the name of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in its political campaigns. BJP's move to mention Atal's work and initiatives for Kashmiris has left the other political parties guessing. Many of them still don't have any clue why the BJP is seeking votes on Atal's name.
BJP Veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee still rules the heart of Kashmiris
J&K based senior journalist Asif Sohaf says that people is the State still remember former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Sohaf says that Atal ji is given credit for bringing back peace in the valley and that is why he still rules the heart of people.
Political experts say that Modi wave might be blowing in the entire country but the former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee still has a place in the heart of Kashmiris. The opposition parties in the State too appreciate Atal ji's initiatives.
Addressing a rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I want to urge people to install with full majority a BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir and trust my words that the dream, which Atal ji had seen for J&K, Modi will use all his might to fulfil it." OneIndia News
