J&K assembly elections: Polling parties dispatched to destinations
Ramban, November 24: Ahead of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, 74 polling parties were were dispatched today for their respective destinations, along with poll materials and EVMs, in the presence of District Election Officer (DEO) Ramban, Farooq Shah Bukhari, and General observers to far off polling stations of both Constituencies.

The DEO Ramban emphasized upon the Zonal and Sector Magistrates for better coordination on the day of polling. The polling parties included 46 for AC 55-Ramban and 28 for AC- 56 Banihal.

The DEO impressed upon the RO's, Zonal and Sector Magistrates to ensure that poll parties reach their destinations in time. Administration has provided medicines and packed food to the outgoing polling parties to meet out any urgency in any circumstances.

The RO's of both Ramban and Banihal Constituencies and other senior civil and police officers were also present on the occasion.

All the three regions in the state are set to go to polls on Tuesday, November 25, the first phase of polling in the assembly elections. 12 sitting MLAs, including seven ministers, are among 123 candidates trying their luck in 15 constituencies.

A total of 10,502,50 voters, including 5,49,698 males, 5,00,539 females and 13 transgenders are eligible to vote in the first phase of the polls.

The Assembly segments going to polls on Tuesday include Kishtwar, Inderwal, Doda, Bhaderwah, Ramban and Banihal (in Jammu division); Gurez, Bandipora, Sonawari, Kangan and Ganderbal (in Kashmir), Nobra, Leh, Kargil and Zanskar (in Ladakh).
