J&K: 2 militants killed in encounter
Srinagar, June 30: Two militants were on Thursday,June 30 killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, police said.
Security forces launched a search and cordon operation in Newa area of Pulwama district following information about presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

He said the militants hiding inside a house were asked to surrender but they chose to open fire on the security forces' positions.
The security forces retaliated, which resulted in the killing of two militants. Two security force personnel were hurt in the operation, the official said adding the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants was being ascertained.
As the security forces were engaged in the operation, a group of local residents started pelting stones at them.
The forces fired pellet guns to disperse the mob, resulting in injuries to four civilians, the official said. The situation in the area is tense but under control, he added.
