Terror Strikes Again In J&K : Army Porter Killed Near Gulmarg’s Botapathri, 5 Jawans Injured

A porter was killed, and five others, including three soldiers, sustained injuries on Thursday (October 24, 2024) during a terrorist attack on an Army vehicle in the Gulmarg area of Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials.

The attack occurred when terrorists opened fire on the vehicle at Botapathri near the Nagin post. Officials confirmed that the porter lost his life in the assault, while four soldiers were injured. The injured soldiers were promptly transported to a hospital for treatment.

Security forces have since launched a search operation to track down the attackers.

This incident occurred just hours after terrorists shot and injured a laborer in the Batgund Tral area of Pulwama district.

The injured laborer, identified as Pritam Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was attacked by terrorists, marking the third assault on non-local laborers in Kashmir within the past week. Security forces responded swiftly upon receiving information about the attack.

Earlier in the day, several political leaders condemned the recent surge in terror attacks in Kashmir since the formation of the new government. They urged authorities to take decisive action to prevent further incidents and enhance the security of migrant workers.

On October 20, a deadly terrorist attack at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal claimed the lives of a doctor and six construction workers.

The attack comes as Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah arrived in New Delhi to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Abdullah is expected to present a resolution passed by his cabinet, calling on the Centre to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.
